As the Founder of Project be You, my goal is to give children a friendly and encouraging environment to learn valuable communication and emotional intelligence skills.
At the age of 16, I immigrated to the United States from Russia and faced the challenge of adapting to an unfamiliar environment while having to learn a new language.
I know firsthand what it feels like to be misunderstood and how challenging it can be to communicate in different settings. I was fortunate enough to receive extensive corporate experience in both sales and communication. I was taught different techniques and skills and moved into a variety of management and training roles.
My passion has always been working with children and as a mother of two growing kids, I found it difficult to find a place that focused on the art of communication.
In 2014, I formed a youth leadership and public speaking class with the assistance of Toastmaster International. Since then I have worked with children from the ages of 5 and up in both public and private school settings.
As a child, I taught my stuffed animals and the desire to become a teacher grew. Later, I graduated with a B.S. in education, certified to teach both general and special education.
During my first years of teaching, I was introduced to the world of yoga and meditation. I started to grow disheartened at what wasn’t being taught in schools, soft skills. Fate intervened and I received an opportunity to develop a 2 year social and emotional curriculum for kids in New York State.
It blew my mind how much the kids grew and changed as a result of consciously cultivating social and emotional skills.
I received another opportunity to promote positive change in schools by traveling the country training teachers in Project Based Learning. This led me to my current home in Hollywood, CA. I felt compelled to bring my knowledge to the West, which is when I had the good fortune of meeting Anna.
Together, we are revolutionizing the way emotional intelligence is taught in schools and afterschool programming.
